Dr. Bill Stehnach grew up in Chesterfield and attended the University of Missouri in Columbia for undergraduate studies and then for veterinary school. After receiving his DVM in 1981, he served four years as a veterinarian in the United States Air Force, stationed first in the Philippines and then in Athens, Greece. On his return home to the “real world” here in St Louis in 1985, Dr. Bill joined County Animal Hospital in Manchester, and in 1990, he helped start up Veticare Animal Hospital in St Charles.
In 1992, Dr. Bill decided it was time to “strike out on his own” and created My Best Friend Veterinary Center on Olive Blvd near I-170. This central location proved easily accessible to the many clients who followed Dr. Bill. My Best Friend Veterinary Center has grown primarily by word-of-mouth recommendations, and Dr. Bill is forever grateful for such a loyal clientele. Many clients are personal friends, many have been with him since 1985, and now he is even taking care of some of their kids’ family pets!
In 2012, having outgrown our original small leased space, Dr. Bill purchased a building five properties to the east on Olive, renovating it into a space double the size, moving into it in February 2013. After more than 34 years of practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Bill is glad and fortunate to have the help of two terrific, experienced veterinarians, Dr. Sandy and Dr. Tim, along with a knowledgeable and fun staff. It is easy to come to work when you love what you do, and when you work with great folks! Dr. Bill.
"I would like to thank all my loyal clients who have trusted their best four legged friends to our care" - Dr. Bill
Happy retirement, Dr. Bill! We all wish Dr. Bill a long and much-deserved rest! We shall miss him along with you all. But we promise to continue to build upon the strong foundation that Dr. Bill created all those years ago, and we will see you all very soon!
